As much as some of us would like to think we are "self made", the truth is we are not.
We could never get to where we are if some one had not come before us, laid the path, given us a hand or helped us along.
Of course as children we need to have parents or someone to guide and watch over us. Then as we get a little older, thinking we so independent and "making our own way"; all we are really doing is learning new things, things other people have already done, and we just get to learn to apply them to our own life and living.
Whether we are learning a new skill, starting a business, raising that first child, there are those that have done it before that can shorten the learning curve tremendously.
Do your best to listen to well intended advice. As you get older you'll realise just how much other people know and how little you do. We can not be an expert in everything!
There is real value in a teacher or mentor.
Then, when you can, give others a leg up, help someone else along, encourage and inspire the next traveler following behind you.
